About Us

WE ARE ALL ABOUT "THE SPIRIT OF THE LEAGUE"

The Notso Amazon Softball League is a league of our own. For more than 25 years, we've been bringing lesbians and queer positive women together to play softball.

There are no try-outs in this league. We try to bring players of a variety of skill levels together so teams are evenly balanced at the beginning of the season. More importantly, we aim to provide a positive and fun environment in which to play ball and make friends. We do this by supporting new players and helping you develop softball skills. We provide more experienced players with an opportunity to mentor and play in an organized league at a recreational level. We call this "The Spirit of the League".

Meet the Collective
Kristy

Kristy - President
Kristy had never really played softball before becoming a Notso in 2003 and hasn't looked back since. She joined the collective the very next year as a general member, followed by 2 more years as the Social Coordinator before taking on the role of President. She is really excited about the 25th anniversary NASL season and already looking forward to the 50th.

Naomi

Naomi - Vice President
Naomi, a.k.a Longbottom joined Notso's in 2003. Things have improved slightly since her first at bat experience - when she was scolded for standing on the plate (well to as foreigner it does look like it was designed for standing on) and first social event where she was shat on by a bird - but not a lot, so they made her vice president to make her feel better!

Deb

Deb - Treasurer
2008 marks Deb's 4th season with Notso's, 3rd as Treasurer. When not patrolling the third base line, Deb patrols the blue line, and the beer line. As well, she spends her time trying not to slice her tee shots onto the wrong fairway. Teal is NOT her favourite colour.

Kris

Kris - Secretary
Kris has been playing Notso since 2005. She spends the time between softball seasons training for the hoola hoop challenge, practicing her karaoke, and working on her beer belly. She is totally psyched about being part of 25 years of lesbian softball in Toronto.

Kelly

Kelly - Team Reps Coordinator
Kelly has been a member of NASL since 2006 and collective member since 2007 as Team Rep Coordinator. Kelly is newly married to the 'detective'.

Sherry - Social Reps Coordinator
Sherry has only been playing team sports for 4 years now. (late bloomer) This is her first year on the council. She is very excited to be apart of the 25th anniversary.

Ange - Mentorship Coordinator
Ange has been playing sports since she could walk. Now in middle years she enjoys the social aspect most. This is her first year on the council, heading up mentors.

Michelle

Michelle - Umpire Coordinator
Michelle Z has played ball with Notsos for the past 4 years and has had the final say on calls made at Notsos for the past 3 years. As the league's head umpire she is open to flattery, bribery and believes in the motto "Hump the Ump". She also plays with last year's Championship team from the Toronto Women's Competitive League, the Bat Crackers. She is friendly, so when you see her, say "Hi!" She doesn't bite... unless you ask her to.

Michelle

Michelle - Communications Manager
Michelle comes to the collective after surviving a year in Nunavut. No stranger to working with queer organizations, she has a varied background of volunteer experience from her years spent in Vancouver. She works as a web desk jockey in the magical world of publishing.

Kate

Kate - Website Manager
Kate - a popup specialist - joined the NASL in 2005. In 2008, bribed with promise of eternal glory and more importantly beer, she agreed to join the collective and finally use her l33t coding skills for good and not evil.

Jenny

Jenny - General Member
Jenny Thorne has been a member of the NASL since 2004. This is her first year on the Collective. She is currently struggling with mastering Hard on Guitar Hero III and her favourite song to jam to is "My Name is Jonas".
