About NotSos

Notso is a non-protit volunteer-run and collectively organized league. Member involvement is crucial to our operation. We rely on members to run all of our league games and social events. All rules and policies are intended in the spirit of the league to make the games as fun and as fair as possible.

GAME DAYS & TIMES

NOTSO softball games are played on Sundays with the exception of long weekends.
Game Times:
10:00 - 11:45 a.m.
12:00 - 1:45 p.m.

GAME LOCATIONS

All regular season games and playoff games are held at one of three diamonds at Riverdale Park West, which is at the end of Carlton St, or River and Gerrard.

GAME RAINOUTS

Games will be rained out only if it is pouring rain or if there has been a steady prolonged period of rain. If you are uncertain please check the Twitter feed on the website.

Rainouts will be communicated via Twitter by 8am and 10am on game days.

60% RULE

In order to be eligible to play in the finals a player must participate in at least 60% of the regular season games. If a player cannot participate due to injury, their name must appear somewhere on the score sheet and the team rep must notify the collective member in charge of attendance. If these two things are done, then the injured player will be marked as if they had been in attendance at the game.

EQUIPMENT

The league provides bases, bats, balls, catcher equipment, umpire equipment, score sheets, and first aid kits.

Please remember that your registration dollars pay for the equipment. Please treat the equipment accordingly. Players must provide their own glove.

The league relies on members to transport and store the equipment in between games. The schedule indicates which teams are responsible for taking the equipment home and bringing it back to the field the following week.

UMPIRES

We love our umps! Notso is a special league because all of our umpires are past or present members. It is part of the Notso spirit that our umps reflect our community.

To make games more enjoyable and the umpires' job easier, all players must observe the following procedures:

  1. If a player does not agree with an umpire's call, they should speak with their team rep.
  2. The team rep may then ask for a time out and speak to the plate umpire for clarification of a call involving interpretation of the rules. If the disputed call involves only the umpire's judgement, for example, was the last pitch a strike, there should be no discussion with the umpire and no protest will be permitted.
  3. If the team rep is not satisfied with the umpire's interpretation of the rules, they may indicate to the umpire and the team rep from the other team that the game is being played "under protest". The team reps for each team should agree upon and record exact situations at the time the protest arises.
  4. The team rep who is objecting to the umpire's interpretation should contact the collective within 24hours to advise of the protest.
  5. The protest will then be resolved by the Umpire Committee. Finally, remember that all our umpires are there to help us play softball, so please be kind to them.

STANDINGS & PLAYOFFS

Points are awarded as follows:
WIN 3 Points
TIE 2 Points
LOSS 1 Point
DEFAULT -1 Point

Games will be played every Sunday, excluding long weekends and exception dates. Standing will be made available to league members as often as possible.

The request must be made in writing (including e-mail) to the collective and must be made by the person requesting and eligible for the refund. No refunds will be issued if requested after the Tuesday prior to game-week seven. Full refunds will only be issued if the request is made by Tuesday before game-week two.
