GAME LOCATIONS
All regular season games are held at one of three diamonds at Riverdale Park West, which is at the end of Carlton St, or River and Gerrard.
Playoff games are held at McCleary Park unless otherwise stated.
GAME RAINOUTS
Games will be rained out only if it is pouring rain or if there has been a steady prolonged period of rain. If you are uncertain please call 416-925-XTRA (9872), extension 2260. (Don't forget to press "1" before dialing the extension!").
Please note that at a game can be cancelled at anytime at the discretion of the plate umpire or a collective member.
Cancellations will occur if the diamond is considered unplayable or unsafe. If one game is cancelled it does not mean all games are cancelled.
60% RULE
In order to be eligible to play in the finals a player must participate in at least 60% of the regular season games. If a player cannot participate due to illness or injury, their name must appear somewhere on the score sheet and the team rep must notify the collective member in charge of attendance. If these two things are done, then the sick or injured player will be marked as if they had been in attendance at the game.
EQUIPMENT
The league provides bases, bats, balls, catcher equipment, umpire equipment, score sheets, and first aid kits.
Please remember that your registration dollars pay for the equipment. Please treat the equipment accordingly. Players must provide their own glove.
UMPIRES
To make games more enjoyable and the umpires' job easier, all players must observe the following procedures:
- If a player does not agree with an umpire's call, they should speak with their team rep.
- The team rep may then ask for a time out and speak to the plate umpire for clarification of a call involving interpretation of the rules. If the disputed call involves only the umpire's judgement, for example, was the last pitch a strike, there should be no discussion with the umpire and no protest will be permitted.
- If the team rep is not satisfied with the umpire's interpretation of the rules, they may indicate to the umpire and the team rep from the other team that the game is being played "under protest". The team reps for each team should agree upon and record exact situations at the time the protest arises.
- The team rep who is objecting to the umpire's interpretation should contact the collective within 24hours to advise of the protest.
- The protest will then be resolved by the Umpire Committee. Finally, remember that all our umpires are there to help us play softball, so please be kind to them.
